This could be as simple as signing up for MCE "Deep Green" 100% renewable energy, or as ambitious as achieving Napa Green Vineyard and Winery certification. We are here to provide support, whether these are individual or whole company commitments.

Our bottles are 650g, not super heavy but I think we can go lighter. I commit to exploring realistic options for that. I also think... what if our Stags Leap District AVA got together to have an initial conversation about using a single, lighter mold for our wines. Think of the multiple implications if that became a reality? There's more, including installing EV chargers on our property, that we commit to. But this is a good start, I hope!

I've successfully pushed for my company to become a Porto Protocol signatory. We look forward to becoming an official member and sharing our sustainability practices such as waste water management which allows us to reclaim up to 95% of our water from keg cleaning. I've put a down payment on an electric car and committed to start tracking my travel not just based on finances, but also carbon emissions. I've become actively involved with Reusable SF and Climate Reality Project Bay Area Chapter. Lastly, I look forward to continuing to help more wineries and On-Premise accounts reduce the amount of unnecessary glass (#1 source of carbon emissions) in the supply chain through offering wine on tap in Free Flow reusable steel kegs. Napa Thrives workshops offer a shared space to evaluate both existing knowledge and new ideas. It strengthens the community’s momentum to share ways we can all take action to preserve and protect our Napa Life and our global environment.
After the Water workshop, I committed to evaluating whether our irrigation applications were true. So yesterday I signed up to have the Crocker vineyard tested for pressure and volume by the expert Green Vineyard team. Did I mention that this is a free test? Looking forward to knowing our DU!
A second workshop got me thinking if the humidity in our barrel cellar was off, as empty barrels had recently required too much re-hydration! Turns out that our system had malfunctioned. Another way to reduce our water use. Did I mention that our winery build is relatively new? Another actionable item!
Finally, Bill McKibben's marquee speech has inspired me to search for a financial institution that does not lend to oil and gas but supports our planet's health! I pledge to follow through with this.
